Description
Product overview
5-Amino-1MQ (5-amino-1-methylquinolinium) is a small-molecule selective inhibitor of nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT) — the enzyme that methylates nicotinamide and drives NAD+ depletion in adipose tissue and muscle. Supplied as 50mg lyophilised per vial.
Research mechanism
NNMT inhibition produces multiple downstream effects:
- Preserves intracellular NAD+ pools
- Reduces methyl-group depletion in adipocytes
- Increases lipolysis and lipid utilisation in adipose tissue
- Improves insulin sensitivity in metabolic research models
- Modulates SAM/SAH ratios affecting epigenetic methylation
Research applications
- Adipose tissue energy metabolism
- NAD+ biology and cellular senescence research
- Insulin sensitivity models
- Methyl-group metabolism studies
- Muscle mass preservation research
Reconstitution and storage
Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water at 3–5 mL for working concentrations of 10–17 mg/mL. As a small molecule (not a peptide), 5-Amino-1MQ is more thermally stable than peptides — refrigerated reconstituted solution remains potent approximately 6 weeks. Store lyophilised vial at room temperature in dry conditions.
Quality and analytics
HPLC purity ≥98%. Batch-specific Certificate of Analysis available on request.
