Description
Product overview
MOTS-c (Mitochondrial Open-reading-frame of the Twelve S rRNA-c) is a 16 amino-acid peptide encoded within the mitochondrial 12S rRNA gene — a discovery that established the mitochondrion as a source of bioactive peptides. Supplied as 20mg lyophilised per vial. Among the most-studied of the mitochondrial-derived peptide (MDP) family.
Sequence
Met-Arg-Trp-Gln-Glu-Met-Gly-Tyr-Ile-Phe-Tyr-Pro-Arg-Lys-Leu-Arg (16 amino acids).
Research mechanism
- AMPK pathway activation (Lee et al., 2015)
- Folate-methionine cycle modulation
- Glucose uptake enhancement in muscle and adipose tissue
- Mitochondrial-nuclear retrograde signalling
- Fatty acid β-oxidation upregulation
Research applications
- Mitochondrial bioenergetics research
- Insulin sensitivity models
- Aging and longevity research
- Metabolic flexibility studies
