Description
Product overview
Human Menopausal Gonadotropin (HMG) is a purified gonadotropin preparation containing FSH and LH activity in approximately equal proportions (75 IU FSH / 75 IU LH per vial typical). Supplied as 75 IU lyophilised per vial. A foundational compound in reproductive endocrinology research with decades of clinical research history.
Composition and activity
HMG combines:
- Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) — granulosa cell and Sertoli cell stimulation
- Luteinizing Hormone (LH) — theca cell and Leydig cell stimulation
The dual-activity profile makes HMG distinct from pure-FSH preparations and from pure-LH analogues like HCG.
Research mechanism
- FSH receptor (FSHR) activation on granulosa/Sertoli cells
- LH receptor (LHCGR) activation on theca/Leydig cells
- Combined ovarian follicular development and androgen synthesis
- Spermatogenesis research applications
Research applications
- Combined FSH + LH receptor pharmacology
- Ovarian stimulation research models
- Spermatogenesis and Sertoli cell research
- HPG axis activation studies
